hawkdriver Posted August 7, 2008 Share #51 Posted August 7, 2008 I took the first picture without the pistol, but the other two have it in place. I got this knife on Monday and the reason I got it so cheap was because, as the previous owner stated, "Some dumb #$%$^% cut both %#$%$#% ends off the scabbard and ruined it". Well, I think we just found the reason that dumb #$%$#% cut the ends off, thus saving me some money!

J_Andrews Posted January 20, 2009 Share #56 Posted January 20, 2009 In RVN, I carried a Ka-Bar tucked into my holster, and when some SF guys saw it, they did likewise, then some of their LLDB counterparts, with Ka-Bars, Marble "Jet Pilot" knives and one Gerber. Sorry, no pix.

Frank Trzaska Posted March 22, 2009 Share #61 Posted March 22, 2009 Guadalcanal, 1943. Super photo Gunbarrel. Appears to be a Klewang tucked into the holster that had the guard removed! The throat of the scabbard still shows as well. All the best Frank Trzaska
hawkdriver Posted March 22, 2009 Share #62 Posted March 22, 2009 I have observed in WW2 combat photos several times, soldier (usually officers) wearing what appears to be the M-3 knife above/behind the .45 auto holster. You need to look closely, but 1LT Gene Hill, my former neighbor, isd seen wearing his the same way, somewhere in China while serving as an advisor to the Chinese Army. You can see it also being done by Tom Hanks in SPR. My question is -- HOW did they rig the scabbard and holster to make this work? Can anyone show a live example? We woiuld certainly want to see the backside of the combo on the pistol belt. Thanx. G Gil, go to post #51, I have a picture there of how it works. If you just shove it down the front side of the pistol belt, it causes the holster to fold under. If you put the scabbard behind the pistol belt, then it sits right.
