BEAST Posted September 25, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 25, 2007 I believe this is from the early 1900s. I would be interested in hearing comments on the uniforms (what there is of them) and headgear being worn. Also I would like to hear some opinions on where this photo may have been taken. Thanks! Dirk Posted September 26, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 26, 2007 old style canteen...could also be panama or stateside (NW) as well. I don't see Company letters/Regimental numbers popular in the PI. Neat shot though.
DevilDan1900 Posted September 26, 2007 Share #4 Posted September 26, 2007 Interesting that the Marine kneeling lower left has a hatcord on his campaign hat. You can see the acorns. Somehow I can't picture an Officer of the period dressed down and wearing a teashirt with cutoff sleeves, so I'm guessing it is a specialty cord as opposed to an Officer cord. I know some Marines associated with artillery detachments in some instances took to wearing red hatcords. Hard to tell. Nice photo!
