Just found this thread. A wonderful collection of photographs...many of which give a lie to the "They never wore them like that" school of thought! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys! I love finding these photos, brings what uniforms I do have more of a human, personal view. Rather than just "things"

A studio photo of my grandfather in Halle, Germany in 1945. Sorry about the sloppy scan. Had it on the pc for a long time.

Another one...

I've found quite a few photos with the blue leadership loop on one of the epaulets for the NCO academy, here and here. though this is the first time I've seen with NCO academy written ON the loop itself...

close up...

gotta LOVE the leopard print chair...

Those were pretty scary times, and I guess it would be nice to have a portrait done (for memories sake).

I honestly wonder how so many of the guys could smile and look for comfortable?

'Cause men look Goooood in uniform, and I think they know it!!

Look at those caps at a 'rankish' angle ( was that 'regulation'?) ......my Dad's and Uncles's studio photos are very similar. I love them all!!

Identified, Upton Sinclair Nordstrom.
From what I can find out he enlisted in 1942... died on Oct. 1 1951. At 30 years old.
Don't know if he did photography in the Army but he did before he went in. Sent off for records, we'll see...
