Really nice paper cover with an emboss on the front. Great, clear Officer photo with the coffin style rank and engineer insignia.

Another one. Also included with the photo are the DUIs he's wearing.

Anybody know why he'd be wearing the officer prop and wings above the pocket?

Another photo, on reverse is written "Wishing you a very merry xmas to a sweet dad. J.D. and Clay"

What is interesting is that the AAC Airman isn't wearing any collar brass.

Great pictures.....gotta love these old studio portraits, and these are some cool ones. Thanks for sharing them with us....

As for the AAF brother picture....he may not be wearing brass for the same reason lots of WWII vets have medals out of place......because he didnt want to?

Those were pretty scary times, and I guess it would be nice to have a portrait done (for memories sake).

I honestly wonder how so many of the guys could smile and look for comfortable?

Note, no collar brass... ?!

last two are the same man, but the reverse of last photo says Howard Joseph.

Not a studio pic but came with the previous two, same man (I think) reverse says Jan. 19, 1943 Lemoore, Calif.

Not a studio photo but a great photo none the less!
Acme newspaper Inc. Chicago, Ill. on reverse with a caption:

Lieutenant Ulric L. Day, above, gunnery student of Brookhaven, Miss., who came to the Harlingen Army Gunnery School from Esler Field, La., demonstrates how the students eat carrots to improve their night vision.

That picture ROCKS! I didn't even know that shoulder patch was being worn that late...If I saw that uniform I would put it in the category of "Too Strange to Not Be Real"!!!

Thanks!

Yeah, I enjoy these old photos. Definitely don't see too many transitionals, so that was nice to find.

I've been told that the winged prop on the chest was worn to denote that the enlisted soldier was an aviation cadet.

Thanks. Nice to have some idea behind it, and that sounds like a reasonable one to me! :D

WW1, can't really get a good look but it appears to be a Infantry Officer with also a whistle chain? Nothing on reverse.

Great portrait. I've never seen metal U.S./Wing prop insignia being worn on the lower lapel. All I have previously seen were the one piece bullion type.
