Double-patched Aussie-made shirt/trousers

Before signing off for the night, I thought I'd post one more rather ordinary Army uniform. The shirt and trousers are made of the same really high-quality wool material. the shirt has a Brisbane tailor's lable in the back of the collar. The trousers match the color of the shirt exactly and, while thay do not have a tailor's lable in them, they have an identical stamp as the shirt. I don't know if the "NEW" stamp means it was made of new material (I don't know what else it might have been made of?) or has some other meaning.

Looks like only two pics will fit on this post. I'll add the other two below. Top, of course, is the shiert with 41st Division Combat patch and 84th div patch. The other shows a cloae-up of the collar label.

Here's the last two pics. On the upper one I've opened the shirt and pulled it back to show the trousers. The bottom one shows the identical "NEW" stamp on both shirt and trousers.

These are what were referred to as T.W.s which stood for Tropical Wostered, the material they were made of. They were high quality private purchase Khakis, if you had the money you would get these in stead of the usual chino ones. This set looks like someone had a lot of money, very nice indeed.

Hi,

That is a very nicely tailord shirt you have there. I especially like the SSI's on the sleeves and the nice insignia. Are the insignia marked at all? Very nice item!

Hello and thanks for the comment, Martin. Both the Maj rank and the Inf crossed rifles are pinback but neither have any mfg markings that I can see.

That is a very nice set. If it were not for the Australian manufacture, it would be rather mundane to most people, but those labels change everything. Surely he must have obtained the uniform while with the 41st in the Pacific.

The infantry rifles on the collar are larger than standard and appear to be older pre 1926 type.

Do they have the "C" catch?

I have a shirt that was my uncles's with the same maker label. He served with the 435th squadron, 19th BG in Australia. Does your shirt have the top buttonhole on a tab?

It does have a second button (in addition to one in the standard collar location). It is offset under the right side of the collar and has a corresponding tab with buttonhole on the left side. I'll try to remember to pull it out this evening and take a photo and post it this evening. I'll also photo the back of the infantry crossed rifles collar pin to answer earlier questions regarding it as well.

Here are the photos that I promised of the collar button and the back of the Infantry BOS insignia. The Inf insignia has a roller-pin device rather than a "C" clasp and there are absolutely no markings whatsoever on the back.
