CliffP Posted February 12, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 12, 2011  I've received an unusual number of inquiries about a U. S. AIR CORPS WW II STERLING WING listed on eBay... but in reality it's an unofficial badge worn only by a few Balloon Observers who were trained at Scott Field, Illinois, in 1921. While it closely resembles a similar looking silver badge made during WWI, this particular duel-wing badge was only produced for a short time in 1921 before it was soon realized that the stylized letters "US" in the center shield did not meet current War Department regulations. Good luck to the winner. Cliff
